January Journal

The month of January has brought us everything from blizzard conditions with high winds and blowing snow, to frigid temperatures dipping down to - 47 with the windchill, to balmy spring time weather, bright blue skies, and then rain and fog. Only in Manitoba, eh?

Garden Arbour in the snow

A snowy start to the month
Early in January we had high winds and blowing snow.
Fortunately, we were on the edge of the storm,
and didn't get the snow others did.

Sparkling snowbanks after the storm
The winds left beautiful, sparkling snowbanks that resembled sand dunes.

The dog is enjoying the snow
The dogs loved playing on the snowbanks
that allowed them to see over the fence.

Mid-January, Brian took a drive south of Shilo,
then headed west, collecting photos along the way.
The things he does for his wife!

How's that for barren plains?

The warm weather continued into the third week.
These photos were taken January 21st.

Walking in deep snow through garden arbour
You can see how deep the snow is around our garden arbour.
I think the dogs were worried when I started to sink!

Trampoline snow fort
The neighbour kids have made a snow fort under their trampoline.

The dog playing in the snow
Raven, Danica's Cavadoodle loves the snow!

Who needs to go for a drive to find deer, when they come right into the yard?

Everyone is enjoying this nice reprieve from winter, but real winter weather will be back soon, I'm sure...In the meantime, it's been wonderful!

Beautiful pictures! Winter is so much nicer in pictures than it is in reality.

hahaha...I actually don't mind winter, unless it drags into spring. This year has been so different, with such extremes, it's definitely broken up the monotony!

I love seeing the snow pictures. As much as I love snow, I'm not missing it this winter. :)

Well, because I've never experienced a winter without at least a little snow, I can't say for sure, but I really think I would miss it!
